Adams County Sheriff's Office Report

Jan. 21, 9:30 p.m. – Citizen assist transferred from Washington State Patrol. Complainant from Spokane Valley advised three women traveling, flat tire, don’t know how to put on the spare. Pulled in to Big Bend parking lot in a maroon Mercury Mystique. Deputy Ben Buriak contacted complainant and changed the tire.

Jan. 20, 8:29 p.m. – Washington State Patrol advised of a semi in the median, not blocking lanes of travel, on Interstate 90 westbound. Adams Automotive could not pull the truck out in the current conditions, and will try during daylight.

Jan. 20, 8:15 p.m. – Lind complainant advised they had left their spouse and don’t want to be found.

Jan. 19, 8:18 p.m. – Hatton complainant advised their daughter has not returned home since last Friday.

Jan. 19, 9:19 a.m. – Ritzville complainant advised of suspicious circumstances at a location on North Highway 261. Undersheriff John Hunt and Deputy Aaron Madison checked the area.

Jan. 18, 2:05 p.m. – Hatton complainant called and advised of dogs fighting in their yard. Deputy Roy Montalvo contacted the complainant who advised of an injured dog in the yard and they were concerned for their children. Complainant was advised to protect self and loved ones if dogs were on the property and being aggressive. Dep. Montalvo contacted Pet Rescue in reference to the injured dog on the property.

Jan. 17, 11:55 a.m. – Complainant from Spokane requested assistance from Deputy Ned Bernath for directions to the courthouse. Subject was wearing light-weight clothing and Dep. Bernath was concerned for his safety walking to the courthouse. Dep. Bernath checked wants then provided the subject with a ride.

Jan. 16, 7:18 p.m. – Lind complainant called and advised of subjects revving their pickup engine in the alley behind South Lutcher Avenue. Deputy Bernath contacted the subject who advised the pickup was moved over an hour ago. Subject advised the pickup is loud and they will get the pipe on it fixed. Dep. Bernath cleared from the residence.

Jan. 16, 1:25 p.m. – Ritzville complainant advised of a suspicious vehicle at a location on East Rosenoff Road. Deputy Madison contacted the subject and vehicle, who had broke down. Subject advised they had help enroute from Moses Lake. Dep. Madison cleared.

Jan. 15, 3:57 p.m. – Silent alarm activated on East Weber Road, Ritzville. Deputy Jeffrey Lane and Sergeant Troy Mock responded to the residence and found it was secure. The owner arrived and found the problem.

Jan. 15, 2:30 p.m. – Moses Lake complainant advised of suspicious subjects and vehicles near complainant’s driveway on West Rosenoff Road, Ritzville. Complainant spoke with a passenger who advised they broke down. Complainant followed subjects back to Grant County.

Jan. 15, 2:11 p.m. – Ritzville complainant advised of an assault while at the Adams County Jail. Deputy Bernath spoke with both subjects involved. Report to be forwarded to prosecutor.

Jan. 15, 5:52 a.m. – Cheney complainant advised a vehicle has been sitting just north of Interstate 90 near Milepost 206 since about 2:30 a.m. with its lights on. Deputy Bernath contacted the vehicle, which was parked off the roadway. Subject inside was sleeping. Dep. Bernath spoke with subject who advised they needed a place to sleep and wanted to be off the road. Subject advised he was awake enough to drive and would be continuing with his trip.

Jan. 28, 11:24 p.m. – Security company from Pasco advised of an activated burglary alarm on West Second Street, Lind. Deputy Lane and Trooper Tyler Fryberger checked the building, no one was found. Unknown why alarm went off.

Jan. 28, 5:34 p.m. – Odessa complainant advised of a red single cab Ford pickup with a torch in the back was in the area of North Deal Road. Vehicle left southbound on Deal Road. Complainant did not follow. Deputy Bernath checked the area, vehicle was gone upon arrival.

Jan. 28, 12:36 p.m. – Hatton complainant advised of a suspicious vehicle parked at the city park in the town of Hatton. Vehicle was registered to a local resident of Hatton. Phone contact was attempted and no answer. Nothing about the vehicle or its contents looked to be suspicious. Cleared from the area.

Jan. 28, 1:58 a.m. – While on patrol in the area of North Moody Road and West Griffith Road, Odessa, a pickup took off from the location, at a high rate of speed and blacked out the lights on the vehicle. The area was checked extensively and unable to locate the vehicle.

Jan. 25, 9:43 a.m. – Complainant from Warden advised of wire being taken from a center pivot at a location on West Lind-Warden Road and North Howard Road, Lind.

Jan. 27, 1:56 a.m. – Ritzville complainant received an anonymous phone call, who stated that they could see into the house located on North Rand Lane. Complainant requested that the area be checked. Deputy Lane was unable to locate anyone in the area.

Jan. 25, 8:47 a.m. – Ritzville complainant advised of trucks speeding and driving poorly in the area of East Danekas Road and North Hills exit, Sprague. Deputy Madison checked and stayed in the area for a while. Dep. Madison observed numerous trucks in the area but none were found to be traveling over the posted speed limit.

Jan. 24, 10:38 p.m. – Lind complainant advised that while at a gas stop on South Pence Road, with a co-worker, a man at the next pump approached and asked if they wanted to buy some marijuana. Complainant’s declined. The vehicle was a green Oldsmobile Aurora with Oregon plates. Deputy Buriak and Washington State Patrol were advised.

Jan. 24, 10:20 p.m. – City of Ritzville Police advised of an alarm that keeps going off at a location on North Highway 261. RPD reported the alarm and offered to assist since Deputy Buriak was in Lind. It was later learned one of the exterior doors wasn’t secured properly so as the wind blew, the door would swing open and shut, setting off the alarm. Listed responsible was called and secured the door.

Jan. 23, 10:35 p.m. – Ritzville complainant advises they are following a “spot lighter” in the area near the Schrag Elevators. Complainant requests contact. Deputy Buriak made phone contact with complainant who advised the vehicle was now in Grant County. The vehicle was an older white Chevy pickup, unknown plate.

Jan. 23, 9:13 p.m. – Deputy Bernath noticed a flashing red light on the pump across from North St. Claire Avenue, Lind. Dispatch contacted responsible party. They know of the problem, there is currently a float stuck in it and that is why it is flashing.

Jan. 23, 4:39 p.m. – Ritzville complainant called and advised one of their clients’ requests a standby at a location on South Church Street, Washtucna, and was enroute at this time. When Deputy Bernath arrived the subject was not there and did not arrive while Dep. Bernath was in the area. Dep. Bernath cleared.
