DUI arrests increased with the holiday season

The results of the recent Holiday DUI enforcement campaign conducted from Nov. 24, 2011, through Jan. 2, 2012, were released on Jan. 4.

In Adams and Grant Counties, 94 motorists were stopped and arrested for driving under the influence (DUI), and statewide, law enforcement officers arrested 3,812 drivers for DUI.

In Adams and Grant Counties, the Moses Lake, Quincy and Warden Police Departments, the Adams and Grant County Sheriff’s Offices and the Washington State Patrol, participated in the extra emphasis patrols, with the support of the Central Basin Traffic Safety Task Force. The extra patrols were funded by a grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.

Last year during the same time period, officers in Adams and Grant Counties, on routine and extra patrols, arrested 41 people for DUI.
