Four arrested in drive-by shooting

On Dec. 14, at about 12 p.m., the Adams County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a shooting that occurred on the 2200 block of West Cunningham Road. Four suspects fled the scene in a maroon, Dodge SUV according to Sheriff Doug Barger.

The suspects were stopped by Grant County deputies, on Highway 17, near Moses Lake. Three male juveniles ages 14, 16 and 17, and one 18-year-old, Yajairo Calzada, were taken into custody. All four suspects are from the Royal City area, and have known gang affiliation.

All four suspects were interviewed by Adams County deputies and subsequently booked on charges of assault first degree and drive by shooting.

Additional charges are pending.

The three juveniles were taken to Martin Hall Juvenile Facility, and Calzada was taken to the Adams County Jail in Ritzville.

The SUV was searched, and no firearm was located. However, items from recent residential burglaries in Royal City were located. These items were turned over to the Royal City Police Department.
