Burglaries, thefts on the rise in county’s rural areas

Nearly $130,000 in property thefts were reported in the eastern portion of Adams County between July 1 and Nov. 28 of this year. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has been busy trying to deal with 30 incident reports during that time, including 17 burglaries and 13 thefts. The difference is that a theft occurs when something is taken off private property that is not stored in a building. Burglary occurs when an intruder forces their way into a home, barn, shop or other structure and then removes items.
