    An annual tradition, the Ralston Grange Christmas Party, will be held for the 84th time this coming Sunday, Dec. 7. Festivities are open to anyone who would like to attend from the surrounding communities. The evening begins with a potluck at 5 p.m. followed by the program.   • Giving Tree deadline extended

    Umpqua Bank has extended the application period for the giving tree. Completed request forms can be returned to Umpqua Bank until Dec. 8. Forms are number coded as they are returned and all requests are confidential. The program is limited to children, newborn to age 18, and seniors 65 years of age or older within the communities of Ritzville, Lind, Washtucna or Benge.     After the press deadline of The Journal, the Adams County Canvassing Board of Elections met for a recount of ballots from the Nov. 4 General Election. The Canvassing Board met for the purpose of conducting the recount of votes cast for the Ritzville District Court Judge position, as seven votes separated the two candidates for the office.     The Lind-Ritzville, Washtucna and LaCrosse School Districts have announced upcoming holiday concerts at the schools.     Adams County Public Works Director Todd O’Brien and Adams County Engineer Scott Yaeger presented the commissioners with the county’s Six-Year Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) for 2015-2020.     Council members approved a four percent wage increase for public works employees at their Tuesday, Nov. 25, meeting. This also included a $.50 an hour pay increase for the public works supervisor, for his spray endorsement. Additionally the council approved a wage increase of the Clerk/Treasurer position to $13.50 an hour.
