    The annual Ritzville Christmas Kickoff weekend occurs on Friday, Dec. 1, through Sunday, Dec. 3, throughout the City of Ritzville.     On Sunday, Dec. 3, the Ralston Grange will host their annual Christmas Potluck and Party at their hall in Ralston beginning at 5 p.m. This traditional event is open to everyone and has been a way for families to kick-off the holiday season for 87 years.     Newly-elected Lind Town Council Member Richard Baldwin did not have to wait long after the Nov. 7 election to take his seat on the council. During the Nov. 14 meeting, Baldwin was sworn into his council seat after he took the oath of office. He was elected to Council Position No. 3 on the Nov. 7 election.   • Jingle Bell Shop event begins in Ritzville

    Beginning on Nov. 23, local residents can participate in Jingle Bell Shop. The event is sponsored by the Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce and allows residents to turn in receipts from purchases at local businesses for the opportunity to win a prize. Residents can shop and dine locally, and then bring proof of the purchase by taking the receipt to a collection box.   • Hospital Board discusses temporary solution for EMS, approves 2018 budget for the District

    After nearly three months of discussion, the Adams County Public Hospital District No. 2 Board of Commissioners received an update on the temporary solution for the decline in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel. The current EMT staff members were having a difficult time filling shifts, but reports by Dr. Marty Sackmann and CEO/CFO Gary Bostrom said the issue is fixed for the time being.   • Caring Neighbors donates to ACSO

    Caring Neighbors recently donated $500 to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. The money will be used to help purchase replacement batteries for the AEDs in the deputies’ vehicles.     The Eastern Washington University Eagle football team celebrated senior day last Saturday in Cheney. Fourteen seniors were recognized for their efforts by Eagle Nation followed by a resounding 59-33 victory over rival Portland State. For Portland State it has been a freefall from two seasons ago (2015) when the Vikings defeated WSU in Pullman and EWU in Cheney on their way to a NCAA football playoff berth.     Students in LRHS’s first Music and Film class have become more observant not just in their abilities to describe music or scores, but also in themes present throughout cinema. The class, taught by math teacher Thomas Pulliam, is serving as a substitute for traditional band this semester while band teacher Jennifer York finishes maternity leave.
