  • Define Greatest...

    Dale Anderson|Updated Nov 3, 2011

The World Series is over and many of you may not have seen even one pitch thrown. A lot of years I didn’t care to watch it either but this year was a little intriguing so I watched quite a bit of four games. Unfortunately I had other things that were pressing the other nights and I missed them completely. For anyone who had the chance to see game six it turned out to be a real classic. It had a lot of drama and timely hits and if you listen to many of the pundits in the s...

  • Scared into a shingles vaccination

    Updated Nov 3, 2011

“You want to get a shingles shot?” my pharmacist asked me when I stopped by for a flu shot. Why? I asked, is it going around? No more than usual, she said, but it’s extremely painful if you get it. Ask your doctor about it. I remembered a friend who had shingles during a couple of years I lived in California and the memory was not pleasant. I just remembered it being a rash. In Washington, the 18th amendment to our state constitution dedicates fuel tax r...

    Sandra Weigand|Updated Nov 3, 2011

October is an exhausting month. First, another time change. When will they stop? Okay, so it happens on Nov. 6 this year, it’s historically been this month so it’s fair to say we are in a state of anticipation. Time changes throw everyone off for a week or so, and no longer have practical value. It’s a state issue, so if you agree, please consider a letter or email to our state legislator (gently worded and respectful, of course) and make your request on the issue. No more time changes! No more garden tomatoes, sanda...

  • Can we all just go out for a ‘beer?’

Pastor Steve Schofstoll, Lind Calvary Assembly of God|Updated Nov 3, 2011

During the 17 years that I have been a part of the Lind and Ritzville communities, there have been very few issues as contentious and divisive as the recent matters concerning the school cooperative and the hospital controversy. What makes this time even more difficult for our towns is that these two issues are happening simultaneously. While I heartily agree that they are of importance – for they deal with both our children and the quality of life for the residents in our towns – I am troubled by how relationships bet...
