Ryan Frederick (above) was the winner of the Ritzville Eagles Auxiliary Traeger Raffle. May 5, 2:55 p.m. — An officer was requested to respond to a local truck stop to assist a subject in getting a dog out of a locked vehicle. The dog accidently locked the vehicle while the owner was outside. The phone numbers of the local tow companies were provided to the subject after the officer was unable to get the vehicle unlocked. Luis "Louie" Alcocer passed away peacefully on June 25, 2019 at the age of 64 in Moses Lake, Washington. His parents, Ramiro and Demetria Alcocer, and his brothers Demetrio Alcocer and Ramiro Alcocer, have preceded him in death. The Lind Town Council has authorized Steve Nelson of Century West Engineering to fill out an application on behalf of the town to the Public Works Trust Fund for funding to pave several roads in Lind. The Public Works Trust Fund is a low interest loan program. Nelson had informed the council of the program at the June 11 council meeting. The Lind Town Council has approved plans for the Adams County Harvest Festival, but some conditions have been attached. Diane Kennedy, the organizer of the event, joined the June 11 council meeting to request formal approval for the festival. Adams County Commissioners passed resolution No. R-034-2019, which established a countywide burn ban on all outdoor burning that began at midnight June 30. The burn ban will continue until official notice has been made to rescind the ban. Recreational and barbecue cooking fires will still be allowed during the period of the ban, according to section No. 4 of the resolution. Beginning on July 8, the Gritman Senior Center will begin serving lunch on Mondays. With the addition, meals will now be served at the senior center Monday through Thursday. This year’s summer menu is expected to include a wide array of options. The Northern Pacific Railway Depot Museum in Ritzville has unveiled a new addition to its storied history, thanks to a generous donation from another regional museum. The addition, announced by museum curator L.R. Keith, is a Northern Pacific Railway conductor's uniform that is in mint condition. A lengthy discussion over the financial health of the hospital district took center stage at the most recent Adams County Public Hospital District No. 2 Board of Commissioners meeting on June 27.
