    The Lind-Ritzville High School drama class will be hosting a spring production of Big Nose on Monday, June 1, at 6:30 p.m. The hilarious full-length play written by D.M. Larson takes a modern twist on the classic tale of Cyrano de Bergerac.   • Hospital district preps for construction

    With the hiring of Spokane contracting company Leone and Keeble, Inc., construction at East Adams Rural Hospital is set to begin within the month. When the contract with Leone and Keeble is signed, work will begin almost immediately to remodel and update the existing hospital building.   • Local community members participate in annual Bloomsday race

    More than 42,000 people took to the streets of Spokane for the 39th annual Bloomsday on May 3. Of the racing group, which was smallest it has been since 2007, nearly 70 individuals were from the local communities. The fastest time recorded from the local communities was ran by Tracy Melville, of Lamont, finishing under an hour with a time of 48:50.   • Fatal wreck claims the life of Kennewick driver

    A one-vehicle rollover four miles south of Ritzville on State Route 395 proved deadly for a Kennewick resident on May 8. David Brenchley, 75, was pronounced dead at the scene after he lost control of the vehicle he was driving and rolled into the median. Four juveniles were in the vehicle with Brenchley at the time of the accident. The 10 and 11-year olds were transported, treated and released from East Adams Rural Hospital.     Ritzville hosted 42 Republican Precinct County Officers (PCOs) on May 6 to vote on seven nominees to serve as a potential replacement for the District 9 Representative position.     The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos golf team traveled to Stoneridge to compete in league competition last week. Even amid the wind and cold temperatures, the LRS team had success both as a team and as individuals. The LRS boys won first place overall, and Head Coach Nick Weishaar said he was proud of their success. It helped raise the energy level for the team as they prepared for sub-districts.     Lady Broncos won their first round of districts against Reardan in a loser-out battle Tuesday, May 12, in Springdale. They came back in the bottom of the sixth inning from 0-3 taking the lead against the Indians 4-3.
