  • County Commissioners amend Six-Year transportation plan

    The Adams County Board of Commissioners approved an amendemnt to the county’s 2018-2023 Six-Year Transportation Improvement Plan at the April 23 meeting. One of the amendments to the plan, which was adopted on Dec. 11, 2017, was the addition of the Odessa Groundwater Replacement East Low Expansion County Bridge repair project.     Moses Lake’s Oscar Garcia wants to bring drag racing to the City of Ritzville. Garcia spoke at the April 17 Ritzville City Council meeting to gauge interest about potentially holding a drag racing event at the Ritzville Municipal Airport in the future, as well as answer any questions from the Council regarding the operation.   • Thompson appointed to vacant County Commissioner position

    Terry Thompson will fill the vacant Commissioner District No. 3 position on the Adams County Board of Commissioners. During the April 16 meeting in Ritzville, the Adams County Board of Commissioners voted to appoint Thompson to the vacant position, effective May 2. Thompson will take over the seat, which has been vacant since former commissioner Jeff Stevens resigned on March 15.     During the April 17 meeting, the Ritzville City Council voted 4-2 to confirm Mayor Gary Cook’s appointment of Julie Flyckt as the City’s new Clerk-Treasurer. Flyckt takes over the Clerk-Treasurer position after former Clerk-Treasurer Kris Robbins left in December to take a job with the City of Moses Lake.     GUMBALL RALLY. A large group gathered in Ritzville City Park on Sunday morning to participate in the 13th Annual Gumball Rally and Poker Run, hosted by the Ritzville Classic Car Club.     As the final act of the Project 56 Committee, a $6,000 donation was made to the local track program. The funds are the remaining donation monies collected during Project 56’s efforts to fundraise for the construction of an all-weather track.     The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos baseball team went 1-3 in the past week of competition The Broncos split an April 17 nonconference doubleheader against Springdale, winning 11-2 in game one and losing 8-7 in game two. In game one of the Springdale doubleheader, the Broncos tied the game at 1-1 in the fifth inning, then took the lead after scoring two runs in the sixth.     The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos golf team traveled to Colville on April 10 to compete in a Northeast 2B League match, hosted by Kettle Falls. Morgan Brausen led the Broncos boys after hitting an 89 over 18 holes. Dirk Dahlman shot a 91 while Spencer Gering finished with a 99. Ellie Gering was the top finisher for the Bronco girls, hitting a 104. Molly Hane and Taelor Umland both finished the competition with a 142.     The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Lady Broncos fastpitch softball team began the last leg of their regular season on April 17 with a sweep over Springdale in a nonconference doubleheader, winning 9-7 and 20-16.
