    Dale Anderson|Updated Apr 13, 2017

There is a very good reason why, I was on vacation last week in the Phoenix area. I honestly went there to visit family and to take in a Mariners game knowing that I would only get to see one. I had booked my flight over a month before not paying any attention to the fact that the Final Four would be played there. I had no intention of... Full story

In the intervening months, the question of who should replace Justice Scalia was put before the American people. Now, with Senate confirmation of U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Neil Gorsuch, a new voice advocating for judicial r...

  • Entrepreneurs remain the key to America’s success

    Don C. Brunell, Business Commentator|Updated Apr 13, 2017

American entrepreneurs’ ability to invent, create and bring products and services to market makes our nation great. Their success generates the tax revenue that funds our schools and puts people to work. Many “big businesses” started in the imaginations of immigrants who came to our country – a place of boundless possibilities. America is a land where your station in life doesn’t matter and where hard work, innovation and perseverance are the keys to success. The story of M&Ms is a good example. We are some of those folks and we deeply appreciate the work done by Steve Wellsandt (Maintenance Supervisor, Ritzville Area 1) and his crew. They have worked long hours, even after dark and through blinding rain and snow, to keep the roads passable. They have done a fantastic job, in awful conditions, and no one could have done it bet...

  • Laws need to be followed

    Updated Apr 13, 2017

The law is the law, or is it? I believe that most of you have heard of someone getting a ticket or being arrested and then nothing really happened. During my lifetime, I have seen people get by without going to jail or paying a fine. Over the years police officers and judges have considered the facts or the person’s social standing to make those determinations. I have no problem with that unless the laws are felonies or something worse. What we have to keep in mind is that our laws locally and nationally have been changing v...
