    It’s the last week of school and the students at Lind-Ritzville Middle School (LRMS) are excited for summer break. There are still some final things to be done, though. Monday was the annual Silverwood trip for the middle school and high school bands. They went to Silverwood and played their instruments for half an hour and went on all of the rides.     The middle school students are finishing up there year with performances and projects. The band is doing their spring concert, the junior honor society did a carwash, and students helped at the Summer Kick Off Fun Fair. The band’s spring concert is being held on Thursday, May 29, at 6 p.m. in the middle school gym.     May is a busy month at the LRMS. The sixth period FACSE class is doing a play, the Honor Society is doing a car wash, the ASB elected new officers, and the band is transitioning from marching the Armed Forces Torchlight Parade to the Spring Concert.     Middle school students are nearing the end of the year. Eighth grade Promotion is coming up, sports seasons are coming to an end, and groups are beginning to meet with their new members.     Spring sports have begun and the teams are practicing for the games that are coming up soon. The baseball and softball teams have a game on Thursday, and there is a track meet on Thursday in Odessa. Practice is going well for the baseball and softball teams.     This month has been busy with many things going on at the Middle School. Bi-County, Honor Band, the Zillah Robot Challenge, Band Contest, the ASB World’s Finest Chocolate sale, and March Madness.     The boys just completed their basketball season on Thursday, March 27. The A team won five games. They were very excited not only because they had finally finished the season, but it was Retro Night for the A team. The boys wore old Bulldog uniforms from when Lind was its own team.     The boys’ basketball teams have been working hard at practice and in games. The A-team scored 31 points on Thursday against Wilbur-Creston.     The boys’ basketball teams have each completed two games so far this season, with one win against Wilber-Creston and one loss against Davenport. The scores for the game against Davenport were: 22-34 for the A-team and 28-11 for the B-team. The coaches this year are Nicholas Weishaar and Steve Nygren.     As most of the students were winding down and looking forward to winter break, there were two students who were working hard to compete in the Zillah Robot Challenge. On Dec. 18, Devin Schafer, Jack Anderson, and Instructor Lance Marquardt took the robot they programmed to compete with other robots from many other Washington public and private schools.     Wednesday, Nov. 6, was this year’s annual Veterans Day Assembly. We thank all of the local veterans that came. The guest speaker was our principal, Guy Strot who taught us about the importance of Veterans Day and freedom. The Lind Elementary students also attended the assembly.
