Volunteers needed for 2010

Relay For Life of Ritzville

Walkers, cancer survivors, those diagnosed with cancer, community leaders, team captains and hard workers are all needed to make the 2010 Relay For Life of Ritzville event a success.

Efforts are in full swing to plan the event set for Aug. 13 and 14, from 6 p.m. on Friday to 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Ritzville High School track/football field.

Volunteers are needed to help organize and recruit teams, seek community support, contact cancer survivors and in a variety of other areas.

To join the Relay For Life of Ritzville as a volunteer or team participant, contact Tia Kubik, event chair, at 659-0782 or via e-mail at ritzville_relay@yahoo.com.

Relay For Life is a team event where participants walk around a track relay style overnight.

During the event, teams of people take turns walking laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.

Funds raised through Relay For Life go to various American Cancer Society programs.

Relay For Life helps a community celebrate the lives of those who have faced cancer, remember loved ones lost and fight back against the disease.
