Jack Fordyce featured artist for 2010 Historic Ritzville Days Western Art Show

Yakima artist Jack Fordyce has been selected as the featured artist for the Fourth Annual Historic Ritzville Days Western Art Show.

One of his paintings will be featured in all of the promotional material for the 2010 art show organized by the Ritzville Downtown Development Association.

Fordyce is a well-known and respected western painter and cartoonist. With a knack for capturing the serenity of the West from a cowboy’s perspective, Fordyce also delivers a laugh, recreating the more humorous moments in a cowboy’s life through his cartooning.

In 2007 Fordyce was selected Cartoonist of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists. He continues to serve as a member of Cowboy Cartoonist International including two terms as vice-president.

His work comes in all shapes and sizes and has been featured in Toppenish, Wash., where he has painted and collaborated on several murals.

Fordyce has been the primary artist or co-creator of at least seven murals, according the Toppenish Chamber of Commerce Web site.

Fordyce’s paintings have been featured at the Charlie Russell Museum, National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Ellensburg’s Clymer Museum.

City life has not buried the deep passion in his heart for country living and the ways of the cowboy. Fordyce’s every thought somehow channels itself back to the very core of his purpose in life – to paint the realities of a cowboy.

Fordyce painted the new image to be used as the featured artwork for the 2010 show in Ritzville.

It will appear on the event poster and postcards as well in advertisements and a variety of promotional materials.
