Lind to contract with fire district for services

The Lind Town Council unanimously agreed to contract terms presented by Adams County Fire Protection District No. 2 during the Dec. 22 meeting.

Council member D.J. Williamson reported contract terms of $4,500 per year for a five-year period between the town and the fire district, which will provide its services for town calls as well as all accounting employee responsibilities.

In addition, the fire district will pay the town $1 for a town truck, with the agreement that the cost of any major repairs will be split between the two entities. If the agreement is not satisfactory at the end of five years, the fire district will sell the truck back to the town for $1.

The contract was not available for signing at the meeting, but Mayor Larry Koch informed the council that the contract would be in effect as of Jan. 1, 2010. It was also noted that the agreed yearly amount was less than what the town budgeted.
