December 17, 2009 Sledding hill dedicated to Ritzville
Mayor Linda Kadlec proudly announced Tuesday night that a generous donation has made it possible for the city to offer a sledding hill to the local youth during the winter months. The new sledding hill is actually one that was previously used by children many years ago. Celia Replogle donated a portion of her property off of Broadway Avenue to the city for use as a sledding hill. The city’s public works crew has been working to prepare the hill for this year’s sledders and Larry Swift reports that it will be ready to go when the snow comes and finally stays. “This is one of the first bright spots in quite some time,” Kadlec proclaimed. In recent years the city had closed a portion of Jackson Street for sledding, but that ended in 2008 after a resident in the area raised concerns and the city discontinued the practice. |
