Selma E. Swarts

Selma E. Swarts, age 89, died in her sleep on Nov. 18, 2009, at Life Care Center of Ritzville.

She was born June 7, 1920, at a farmhouse in Valier, Mont. to Julius and Bertha Myhre.

She married at the early age of 15 to William R. Pond and had a son and daughter. A few years later she divorced and moved to Washington state and married C B Moon. A few years after that, she divorced and married Bus Swarts.

After he died in 1993, she did not marry again. It has been said she lived a good full life in Lind for more than 60 years. She liked to bowl, fish, travel, yard sale, dig up old bottles, play cards and help other people in her community. She was well liked and was a good citizen to her country and her community.

She had two children, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Her daughter, Margaret Haynes, died in Ritzville in October 2008 from health complications.

Her son, Bill Pond, lives in Lind.

A memorial service was held at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Lind on Nov. 28, 2009.

Danekas Funeral Home and Crematory-Ritzville was entrusted with arrangements.
