October 15, 2009 Myrtle Herring
Myrtle Herring, age 88, died Oct. 10, 2009. She was born on March 16, 1921. She grew up in Arkansas and moved to California as a young adult. She worked at Lockheed where she met her husband, Everett Herring. They were married in 1943, and in 1948 they moved to Ritzville to the family farm. In 1967, her husband passed away and she moved to town. She became a dispatcher at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. The officers became part of her family and she was vigilant on checking on their “status” when they were on patrol. She enjoyed attending the Eastern Washington Peace Officer meetings. She retired in 1982. She spent her retirement years gardening, baking and enjoying friends and family. She is survived by a niece, Georgia McAninch; great-nephew, Roger Schulz; God-daughters, Vicki Benzel and Debbi Kramer, as well as an extended Herring family. It has been said she was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Burial will be Friday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11a.m. at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville. Danekas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. |
