David J. Wacker

 

David J. Wacker, age 90, died Sept. 22, 2009, in Spokane.

He was born Sept. 28, 1918, in Odessa, to Jacob and Katherine (Koch) Wacker. He grew up in the Odessa and Dryden areas, graduating from Dryden High School.  He was a lineman and the area manager for Washington Water Power (now Avista) in the Odessa and Ritzville areas for several years.

He married Mary Lambert on April 4, 1971, and the two lived in Odessa before moving to Davenport 13 years ago.

He is survived by his wife Mary Wacker at the home; one son, Michael and Susan of Spokane Valley; two grandchildren, Chris Walker and Sharma Thornton; five great-grandchildren; one step-daughter Kathleen (and Ted) Ludgate of Edmonds; four step-grandchildren, Jada Pomeroy, Lindsey Witcomb, Marit Ludgate and Robby Ludgate; one brother, Jerry (and Kathy) Walker of Spokane Valley; one sister, Florence Brevet of Spokane; along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Wacker in 1966; two brothers, Alvin and Richard Wacker; and two sisters, Ruth Jacquot and Bernice Gaspard. 

He was a member of the Odessa V.F.W., EAA (Experimental Aircraft Assoc.), I.B.E.W., a WWII Army Air Corp. veteran and a bombardier in a B-17 bomber.

Funeral service was held on Sept. 25, 2009, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Davenport, with Father Pat MacMahon, officiating.

Family interment was held at the Ritzville Memorial Cemetery, Ritzville.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the Hospice House of Spokane, 367 E. 7th Ave., Spokane, WA 99202.
