August 7, 2008 Kouns provides gift of hair for Locks of Love
Allison Kouns continues to support a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada. This marks the fourth time that Kouns has donated her hair to Locks of Love, which creates high-quality hair prosthetics for children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. People from around the country donate hair to the organization, which meets a unique need for children. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The hair prosthetics restores children’s self-esteem and confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers. Donated hair needs to be fashioned in a ponytail and at least 10 inches long. Instructions for donating hair are available on the Locks of Love Web site at http://www.locksoflove.org. |
