May 15, 2008 Defensive driving courses planned for county employees
Adams County employees are currently scheduling defensive driving courses through the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. As of Monday morning, two classes were filled. A large portion of sheriff’s office employees spent April 14 engrossed in one of three two-hour defensive driving courses and the sheriff expects to see all county employees in the classroom in the near future. The sheriff’s office is offering defensive driving, which covers driving habits, proper driving distances, etc., for all county employees. Sheriff Doug Barger extended an invitation to elected officials and department heads at the April 14 meeting of the county commissioners to set up a time and location for their employees to complete the course. According to the county’s Personnel Policy Manual (Appendix B), the sheriff’s office regularly schedules and instructs courses in safe driving and that all county employees driving a county vehicle or personal vehicle on county business must complete a safe driving course. |
