100 plus quilt entries expected for annual show

 

More than 100 quilted items will be on display at the Ritzville Elementary School gym this Saturday, May 3, starting at 9 a.m. and continuing until 5 p.m. for the 2008 Peace by Piece Quilt Guild show.

Stitching experts from the surrounding area have entered a variety of quilted masterpieces, from table toppers to king-size quilts, for this year’s quilt show.

Guild members participating in this year’s Quilt Show Challenge will display wall hangings featuring their favorite nursery rhyme or children’s story.

Several vendors will make their show debut this year, including P.J. Jacobson of Lind and Spokane businesses Anne’s Attic, Quilt Patch Lane and Log Cabin Dry Goods.

Jacobson is selling fabric from her Lind business, Birth and Baby, for $1 per yard at the show. She expects to have mostly tencel and linen fabrics available.

Pam Clarke’s Log Cabin Dry Goods is open seven days a week at its Spokane location on East Union.

“We are the largest quilt shop in the area. We offer thousands of fresh fabrics, quilting supplies, classes, Longarm machine rentals and drop-off quilting services,” according to http://www.logcabindrygoods.com.

Stitching classes include Longarm classes as well as embroidery, appliqué, regular and block-of-the-month classes.

One lucky person will receive a quilt made by Peace By Piece Quilt Guild members in a raffle at 4:30 p.m. Individuals have purchased tickets through the year for a chance at winning the quilt. Tickets are also available to purchase at the show.

Complimentary refreshments and Viewers’ Choice voting round out the day’s activities.
