Ian Schneidmiller and Erick Cleveland were honored at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on April 13 at the Timberview Christian Fellowship Church in Mead, Wash., where friends and relatives gathered as the two scouts were presented their Eagle Scout awards. Schneidmiller is the son of Jill Baumann Smylie and grandson of Dick and Doreen Baumann of Spokane, Wash. Cleveland is the son of Mari and Ron Cleveland of Mead. The honored scouts presented a special mentor’s recognition to Schneidmiller’s uncle, David Baumann of Washtucna, for his many acts of inspiration. Brian Baumann, a cousin and Eagle Scout, also took part in the ceremony. A representative from the Elk’s Lodge presented the two honored scouts with a plaque and an American flag that had flown over the United States capitol building. In addition, a congratulatory message was read from the President of the United States. Several Boy Scout leaders who had instructed the two Eagle Scouts throughout their scouting also participated in the afternoon activities. Schniedmiller and Cleveland entertained the large assemblage with a slide presentation and antidotes of their camping experiences. Other scouts of various ages who had attained the Eagle Scout award in scouting were asked to stand and be recognized. A reception followed, allowing everyone to congratulate the Eagle Scouts. |
