April 3, 2008 Grange members plan Earth Day activities
Members and friends of the Ralston Grange will brave the spring weather this Saturday, April 5, to pick up litter on the shoulders of Highway 261, starting at 9 a.m. The Grange is asking for new volunteers to join veteran participants in its 18th year of the Adopt-A-Highway Program. Anyone 15 years of age or older may join the community service project. Grange membership is not necessary to volunteer. New litter crew volunteers should arrive at the hall a little earlier to receive safety information provided by the state. For more information, contact Randy Roth at 659-0893. Workers will pick up litter in one-mile sections on one side of the highway and leave the full bags by the road. Organizers expect the project to be completed by 10 a.m. Ralston Junior Grange members will contribute to Earth Day efforts by picking up litter and leaves in the Ralston Community Park at 9 a.m. They will also serve refreshments in the hall after clean up efforts are done. Following refreshments, the young Grangers will meet with Gerald Ray to learn how to make snow, see disappearing peanuts and take part in other experiments. |
