Bid awarded for Division Street sidewalk project

Council members awarded Halme Construction of Davenport a $111,958 contract for the installation of a sidewalk along the golf course side of Division Street from Tenth Avenue to Bauman Street.

Halme Construction’s bid was 22.3 percent lower than the city engineer’s original project estimate.

The Davenport company’s bid was the second lowest bid received by the city when bids were opened on March 18. Schimmels Construction of Spokane was the original low bidder, but later withdrew the bid after the company determined it made an error in its bid documents. The company submitted a project bid of $76,774.

The sidewalk project is being funded through grant funding from the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board.
