High-flying kites earn honors in Lind

Thirty area youth headed to the Lind Airport last Saturday, March 22, to participate in the annual kite flying contest sponsored by the Lind Lions Club.

Event chairman Bill Wills reported that they had a good wind for the day for those who ventured up to the airport for the afternoon air acrobatics. All 30 participants received $3.

Brooke Kuch earned $5 for the highest flying kite while Shawn Simmons received $5 for the longest flying kite. Whisper Casady won $5 for the best looking kite, and Alexis Melcher garnered $5 for the late entry kite.
