March 27, 2008 Join Hands Day projects needed
Join Hands Day is Saturday, May 3, across the nation. Project ideas are needed for the Ritzville event. Anyone with a project suggestion is asked to contact Kathy McGregor at 659-1181. Youth having ideas to submit may turn them in to Suzanne or Lauren Gust at the high school. Last year’s volunteers scraped, primed and painted windows at the Ritzville city shop while volunteers scraped, primed and painted windows and doors at the Ritzville Festivals Association building on Railroad Avenue. Workers weeded and added red rock at an entrance sign, and a crew of five volunteers painted the front porch at the Dr. Frank R. Burroughs’ home. Volunteers mowed and trimmed yards, removed spent bulbs, replaced soil and washed a car for local homeowners. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans underwrites the national day of work where youth join adults to improve their community, and Ritzville has participated in it since 1998. Youth and adults on the project received Join Hands Day t-shirts. |
