Land owners can request the county to not spray

The Adams County Public Works Department is gearing up for spring work, including roadwork and spraying weeds.

Director Todd O'Brien expected spraying efforts to start last week, according to his report to the county commissioners on March 10.

Land owners and agricultural producers with land adjacent to county roads may request the county to not spray by contacting the department at 659-3276.

In those areas where the county is requested to not spray, the land owner/producer is responsible for controlling noxious weeds.

Spraying crews will primarily focus on paved county roads, followed by half of the gravel roads. According to O'Brien, work on gravel roads is divided between even and odd years. This year, gravel roads set for even years will be sprayed.

In maintenance, road crews are fixing fingers washouts and repairing/reshaping shoulders. Some potholes in the Lind and Ritzville districts are being repaired with cold patch.
