Sign up for junior Grange summer camp

 

Early registration is available for junior Grange summer camp at six locations around Washington state, including Camp Wooten.

In addition to Camp Wooten, which is near Pomeroy, camps are scheduled for Camp David Jr. (July 6-11) on the Olympic Peninsula, Mayfield Lake Junior Grange Camp (July 20-26) near Mossyrock, Camp Morehead (July 13-18) on Long Beach Peninsula, Northeast Washington Junior Grange Camp (July 27-Aug. 2) at Camp Bear Paw near Newport and Cornet Bay Junior Grange Camp (Aug. 3-8) at Deception Pass.

Information about each camp is available from local Granges, county deputies, camp coordinators or from the Washington State Grange.

Grange membership is not necessary for youth to attend Junior Grange.

The week-long camps feature music, hiking, swimming, special programs, games, crafts and information about Junior Grange.

Each camp requires signed medical permission slips from parents, completed registration forms and pre-payment of camp fees.

The registration fee prior to June 1 is $125, while late registrations are $140. Make checks payable to the Junior Grange Fund and send with the registration and medical release form.

Arrival time is Sunday, June 22, 2 to 4 p.m. Check-in is not permitted prior to 2 p.m. Checkout is Friday, June 27, before 10 a.m.

Visitor's night is Thursday night, and parent and guardians are encouraged to attend. The program starts at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $5 for dinner visitors and $2.50 for other meals. Overnight stays are $10.

Campers need to take the camp permission form, dress clothes for visitor's night, changes of clothing for the week (including plenty of socks and undergarments), at least two pairs of shoes (no open-toed) if possible, towels for swimming and showers, soap and shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste, sleeping bag, blankets, pillow, camera and film, flashlight and batteries, stamped pre-addressed envelopes, insect repellant, bathing suit, jacket, sweater or sweatshirt.

All items need to be marked with the camper's name.
