March 6, 2008 Annual weed list hearing set for March 11
Adams County Noxious Weed Control Board will hold its Annual Weed List Hearing on Tuesday, March 11, at 2 p.m. All additions to State Class A and Class B lists are mandatory additions to each county’s weed list. Additions to the Class A Weeds are ricefield bulrush (schoenoplectus mucronatus), European hawkweed (hieracium sabaudum), common cordgrass (spartina anglica) and variable-leaf milfoil (myriophyllum heterophyllum). The Additions to the Class B weeds are three species that have been upgraded from the Class C list. These additions are common reed (phragmites australis), butterfly bush (buddleja davidii) and poison hemlock (conium maculatum). There is one deletion from the Class B listing, hedgeparsley (torilis arvensis). Common hawkweed (hieracium lachenalii) has been added to the Class C list. The three Class B additions are found in Adams County. As Class C weeds, these were not on the Adams County Noxious Weed List. Class C weeds are optional additions and are decided at the local level. The board will determine if these shall be designated for control in Adams County and would like input from the public.
