March 6, 2008 Schoesler to hold tele-town hall
9th District residents can participate from home just by calling in
OLYMPIA—State Sen. Mark Schoesler is inviting residents of the 9th Legislative District to participate in a telephone town hall meeting on Monday, March 17, at 7 p.m. Residents can call in and participate in a community dialogue from the comfort of their own homes by dialing 1-866-447-5149 and entering PIN # 13556. The call begins at approximately 7 p.m. and lasts for one hour. “The 2008 legislative session will have just been completed by then, so this will be a great time to let people across the district know what happened in Olympia and hear from them about their priorities for state government and the Legislature,” Schoesler said. “I look forward to having a conversation with the people in the 9th District about what they think about the issues addressed this year.” Schoesler said doing a telephone town hall meeting is a new way to communicate with more people that is more cost-effective for him as a legislator and a more convenient way for constituents to participate. “Since it includes all or part of six counties, our district is so large that you just can’t have one town hall meeting that’s convenient or nearby for people to attend. Sometimes it’s hard to have even a meeting in one county that is practical for everyone to attend. With this technology, my constituents can listen and participate from the comfort of their home instead of driving long distances to a meeting,” Schoesler said. During the tele-town hall, Schoesler will listen to residents, answer their questions and discuss a wide variety of topics. Residents can listen in to the call, ask questions, and take part in instant polls.
