March 6, 2008 Information day planned for sheep producers
Sheep producers throughout eastern Washington and north Idaho are invited to attend the Columbia Basin Sheep Information Day scheduled for Saturday, March 15, at Blauert Farm in Washtucna, announces Tom Platt, Washington State University Extension educator in Davenport. Platt says this year the Columbia Basin and Spokane Area Sheep Producers’ Associations have teamed up with WSU to offer the field day. He says the program has something to offer sheep producers of all strips, youth and adults, large and small operations. The morning session begins at 10 a.m. with concurrent sessions: Pasture management and Club Lamb Selection. At noon, the Blauert family will host a lamb BBQ. The afternoon sessions include Show and Tell, where sheep producers exchange ideas, tips and show favorite tools and gizmos, Health Care for the Baby Lamb, Parasite Control, Livestock Guardian Dogs and a tour of Blauert Farm. The Information Day will adjourn at 4:30 p.m. RSVP is requested to help Blauert’s plan for lunch. Call WSU/Grant County at 509-754-2011 ext. 413 by March 11. On March 15, Sheep Information Day registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Blauert Farm is located at 115 SE Cherry Lane in Washtucna. From Hwy 26, drive south on Main Street (Hwy 261) four blocks and turn east on East School Street. East School St. changes to East Booth Ave. after 2 blocks. Follow East Booth Ave. three blocks more to Blauert’s. Watch for the WSU signs. WSU programs are offered without discrimination. For accommodation of special needs, contact Tom Platt at 509-725-4171.
