March 6, 2008 County awards herbicide bids
The Adams County Public Works Department submitted a list of contact and residual bids to the county commissioners Monday morning for approval. The county received herbicide bids from UAP Timberline, Helena Chemical Col, Wilbur-Ellis Co., International Pest and Vegetation Management out of southern California, J.R. Simplot Co. and Wilco. Bid prices were accepted from UAP for residual products Krovar I DF, Oust XP and Sahara WDG. Contact products included Brush-rap/Riflc D, Hardball/Platoon and Vista as well as additives including Interactive/Choice Weathermax, In Place, MSO oil, super spread, Hasten, R-11, R-900 and activator. Helena was low bidder on residual products Diuron WDG OR, Landmark XP and Payload. Contact products include Edict 2 SC, Escort XP, Overdrive, RoundUp Pro Concentrate/Honcho Plus, Soultions WS, Tordon 22K/Outpost, Vanquish, Veteran 720, Vision and 2-4-D Amine, and the additives Bronc Bax and Grounded. Wilbur-Ellis provided the lowest bids on residuals Portfolio LF, Spike 80 DF and Telar XP. Contact products included Hi Dep, Milestone and Vengeance Plus. Additives included Bronc Max and Grounded (equivalent to EDT concentrate). IPVM’s and Wilco’s submitted bids were not among the low bidders. J.R. Simplot Co. was low bidder on residual product Simazine/Caliber, contact products Buctril equivalent to Maestro 2EC and Recoil as well as additive products Ammonium Sulfate Liquid and NO Foam. Public Works Director Todd O’Brien said that the next step is to get costs per acre for each product and look at where the products are used for the best cost per acre. Once that process is completed, chemicals will be purchased.
