Services today for Dee Ruser

A mass was held today at St. Agatha’s Catholic Church for Dolores E. “Dee” Ruser, former publisher of The Ritzville Adams County Journal.

Dee and Duane Ruser were publishers of this newspaper from May 1, 1988, until March 31, 2004.

Dee died on Saturday, March 1, 2008, after a brief battle with cancer at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Ala.

The couple purchased The Ritzville Adams County Journal through Fournier Media Services from John and Laverne Pavlik.

Prior to coming to Ritzville the couple operated weekly newspapers in Southern Illinois.

The Rusers were avid golfers and regulars at the Ritzville Municipal Golf Course.

After selling the newspaper on April 1, 2004, the Rusers retired and remained in Ritzville for a short period of time until moving to Guntersville, Ala.

Dee was born on Dec. 9, 1942, in Adrian, Minn.

Internment is in the St. Agatha’s Catholic Cemetery in New Athens, Ill.

Memorials may be made in Dee’s name to St. Baldrick’s Children Cancer Research.
