Police chief says: Keep your eyes and ears open

The Ritzville Police Department is asking that all residents take precautions to prevent theft and break-ins.

Ritzville Police Chief Dave McCormick recommends that all citizens lock their doors and windows at home as well as locking vehicles at home and while at work or doing errands.

McCormick reminds people that if they hear or see something that is out of place or unusual to call the police department at that time to report it, and not wait until later to notify law enforcement.

Recently, a Ritzville business informed law enforcement of receiving several Susan B. Anthony dollars and a quantity of 50-cent pieces.

McCormick asks that area residents check their coin collections. If coins are missing, contact the police department at 659-1313.

“We’re trying to help you out in the community, but we need your help too,” McCormick said.
